Brainstorming is a great tool to use to generate ideas and problem solve.
Guidelines:
Set a time limit.
Do not evaluate any ideas until all have been given.
Freewheeling – expressing wild ideas – is welcome.
The more ideas generated the better!
“Hitchhiking” – building on others’ ideas – is allowed.
Write all ideas on a flipchart so the whole group can see them.
Steps:
Clearly state the objective and ground rules of the brainstorming session.
Wait a minute or two while everyone silently generates ideas.
Participants contribute ideas in rotation or randomly.
The “scribe” writes each idea on a flip chart. Ask for clarification. Avoid Interpretation.
